So Chad and I wanted to keep everyone updated with the progress of our house building adventure, so we thought this blog would be the perfect way to share pictures and commentary on the experience. Everyone has warned us this will be the ultimate test of our love and commitment to one another, so we should count to 10 before lashing out at each other and remember that we love each other...I'll let you know how that goes.
We are thinking the house will take us about 8 months, but secretly, I'm PRAYING for closer to 6! We've been living out of the office since February and I'm ready to be moving into our new residence.
Don't think that because we're building the house during football season, it means I won't be in attendance tailgating...on the contrary. I will NEED football to keep me sane! But don't expect Chad there, unless it's after dark, the generator runs out of gas and he can no longer work around the property...he is in HOG HEAVEN right now! There is so much to be done and he loves getting his hands (and clothes) dirty. :)
As of now, we have cleared and "grubbed" the site, had it surveyed, dug footings, passed our footing inspection, and this morning we had the footings poured...I sound like I know what I'm talking about don't I? Anyway, hopefully tomorrow they will begin laying the foundation. The house is on a crawlspace...we're just trying to decide if we want a sealed crawlspace or vented...oh the decisions we have to make - and I thought the only things I'd really have to think through were interior design selections.
